New Delhi: With the epic Manchester derby scheduled on Super Sunday, the former Manchester United defender Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that Manchester City will never be able to overtake the Red Devils’ status.
Alex Ferguson’s men will travel to Etihad Stadium on Sunday with a three-point lead over Roberto Mancini’s side at the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester City, last season, had spoiled United’s EPL party after an emphatic 6-1 victory at Old Trafford. But, Solskjaer feels that despite their success Manchester City are still a long way behind the Red Devils.
While talking to reporters, he said: "There's always the big brother aspect, when the little brother tries to overtake the big brother, it always happens in families, in clubs where a young player wants to overtake the old player's position".
Manchester United have been criticized for their defensive play this season after conceding 21 goals in 15 Premier League games, but Solskjaer believes it is his former team’s nature to play entertaining and open football.
He stated that the Robin van Persie signing has been a major success for Manchester United and he will play a crucial role in the upcoming Manchester derby.
