New Delhi: In the epic Manchester derby, Wayne Rooney’s swift strike in the 16th minute helped Manchester United to lead 1-0 against Manchester City at the Etihad stadium. Ashley Young broke Manchester City’s left wing to pass a clean ball to Rooney who ensured a clinical finish.
Wayne Rooney’s heroics continued as he struck again in the 29th minute to give United a 2-0 lead over City. Rafael’s low cross on the overlap was well read by Rooney who was completely unmarked.
With Mario Balotelli’s ordinary show, Mancini decided to bring Carlos Tevez to get City side back in the game.
In the 60th minute, Tevez effect came into play as City pulled one goal back. Yaya Toure’s clinical finish helped the hosts to get back in the game. Tevez and Silva had earlier tried a shot that was saved by De Gea.

City finally finds refuge in Pablo Zabaleta’s strike at 85th minute and the defending champions came back from 2-0 to level score against United.
Just when everyone thought it was going to a draw, Manchester United was awarded a freekick just outside the box. Robin van Persie, who din’t score in the game, curled the freekick inside the City goal post with the help of Samir Nasri’s stupid leg sticking out of the wall.

The tension was soaring high as fans started going berserk and Rio Ferdinand was struck with an object thrown by a City fan, leading to a wide cut under his eye. Ferdinand refused to come out of the field with blood pouring out on his face, resulting in loss of minutes that was crucial for City.
