Barcelona: Riding high on Lionel Messi's double strike, Barca made the best start in the history of the Spanish league on Saturday as the the Catalan side beat Athletic Bilbao 5-1.
Barcelona's 13 wins and a draw in the 14 games helped them surpass Real Madrid's 12 wins in the 1991-92 season.
This was Messi's 11th double of the season as he is just one strike away from Gerd Mueller's record of 85 for club and country in a calender year, in 1972.
With a goal each from Gerard Pique, Messi and Adriano, Barcelona led 3-0 till half time. The gap was further widended to 5-1 in the last half after strikes from Cesc Fabregas and Messi.
