New Delhi: Cyclist Lance Armstrong has admitted to talk show host Oprah Winfrey that he used performance-enhancing drugs in a lengthy interview aired on Thursday.
Armstrong accepted that his seven Tour de France titles were fueled by an array of drugs.
It was recorded on Monday in Austin, Texas, and was to be aired in two segments on Thursday and Friday on Winfrey's OWN television channel.
When asked directly, Armstrong admitted using blood-boosting EPO, blood doping transfusions and testosterone or human growth hormone.
Following Armstrong's confession, the IOC has stripped him of his bronze medal from the 2000 Sydney Olympics because of his involvement in doping, officials familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday.
Two officials said the IOC sent a letter to Armstrong on Wednesday night asking him to return the medal. The move came after the International Olympic Committee was notified by cycling's governing body that Armstrong had not appealed the decision to disqualify him.
