Lahli: Sachin Tendulkar, playing his last first class innings, scored a vital unbeaten 79 to guide Mumbai to a 4-wicket win over hosts Haryana here on Wednesday. Tendulkar, who started his Ranji career with a hundred, looked well on course to reach the three-figure mark in his final innings too; just that the Haryana tally was a wee bit too less for the batting genius.
Batting with Dhawal Kulkarni, who was born on the day Sachin made his Ranji Trophy debut on 10 December 1988, the Little Master almost single-handedly lifted Mumbai from their worrisome position, much to the delight of hordes of local fans who just didn’t care if their team lost.
The win, achieved through a Kulkarni stroke, elicited the emotional farewell for the retiring great. Sachin signed on camers, waved to the fawning crowd, and was carried on shoulders by the Mumbai side. Here are the images:
