Christina Knapp was drinking with a friend were at a bar one evening and about five people sitting on the next table made her an outrageous offer- that of accompanying them home, stripping and serving them beer- all for $3,000. And, this wasn't all- when Knapp declined the offer, the men raised the offer to $7,000, leaving the woman and her friend shell-shocked.
Well, this might sound weird to every woman out there, but this is quite a usual thing in Williston, North Dakota, where the gender ratio is reversed and there are just a few hundred women for quite a few men.
As per a report published in The New York Times, while the oil rich rural town has attracted droves of young men to work, courtesy the oil boom, it hasn't been able to attract many women.
"At work, at housing camps and in bars and restaurants, men have been left to mingle with their own. High heels and skirts are as rare around here as veggie burgers. Some men liken the environment to the military or prison," reports the daily.
According to the daily, the sad scenario has complicated things for the local, as they have started feeling unsafe, with men
“So many people look at you like you’re a piece of meat. It’s disgusting. It’s gross,” The New Year Times quoted Megan Dye, a Williston resident as saying.
Interestingly, a handful of women have started banking upon the situation. The two strip clubs in Williston are attracting dancers from around the country, with most of the strippers taking home as much as $1,000 every night.
