A US Republican created havoc across America, when he referred to women as "vaginas" in an email to his colleagues. He has now apologised for the same.
The comment by Peter Hansen, was first reported by New Hampshire political blogger Susan the Bruce. Apparently, Peter made the comment in an April 1 email debate with colleagues about a "stand your ground" gun bill.
It was after Hansen’s colleague, Steve Vaillancourt talked about the benefits of retreating instead of using deadly force at a lengthy floor speech.
According to the Huffington Post, To this Hansen replied in an email, saying ‘what could possibly be missing from those factual tales of successful retreat in VT, Germany, and the bowels of Amsterdam?’
“Why children and vagina's of course. While the tales relate the actions of a solitary male the outcome cannot relate to similar situations where children and women and mothers are
the potential victims,” he added.
It has been reported that he aplogised a day after saying that he didn’t regret the remark and had used it for shock value. He claimed he "is embarrassed to use that word."
