Beijing: In a bizarre diktat the Chinese administration has decided term its female population, who fail to find a life partner by the time they are 30-years-old as "leftovers".
The Communist government of China asked All-China women's Federation to use the offensive term to address the Chinese women who are between the age group of 27 and 30 years and have failed to get married.
‘Pretty girls do not need a lot of education to marry into a rich and powerful family. But girls with an average or ugly appearance will find it difficult,’ reads one article titled ‘Leftover Women Do Not Deserve Our Sympathy’.
The term was first proposed by Chinese State media. The move has angered a lot of Chinese people.
The government wants its girls to marry young and in an attempt to address the concern of growing gender imbalance.
The Chinese one-child-policy has led many people to selectively abort, causing serious gender imbalance in the 1.3 billion population of China.
Presently there are 118 boys for every 100 girls in China.
The government is concerned that the large number of unmarried men may spark social havoc, quoted Daily Mail.
