Islamabad: Under the guise of ‘eliminating terror’, Pakistan has taken a total of Rs 8.82 lakh crore from the US. Pakistan’s Finance Minister Salim Mandwiwala made this disclosure in the Parliament. Mandiwala shared that this amount has been taken in a span of five years.
The Finance Minister said that this amount was given from support alliance fund.
Meanwhile, US Senator John Kerry, who is also President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of State, has opposed the suggestion of cutting aid to Pakistan.
Kerry said that Pakistan had not been given enough credit for its assistance in the operation against Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
India has always welcomed any such decision from the US. In 2011, US had decided to suspend $800 million worth of military aid to Pakistan.
In 2011, then External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had said, “It is not desirable that this region had to be heavily armed by the US, which will upset the equilibrium in the region itself.”
