Chon Buri: US Marine conducted a joint exercise in the jungles of Thailand. A total of 13,000 marines are taking part in one of the most strenuous military exercise in the world.
The exercise codenamed, Cobra Gold 2013 is an annual, multi-national military training programme that incorporates jungle survival techniques.
The exercised involved drinking blood of Cobra snake before killing it with bare hands. The Thai instructor taught the marine how to kill the venomous snake.
Drinking blood of Cobra is part of local Thai custom.
Many marines, including women soldiers, volunteered to drink the blood of the snake-considered to have aphrodisiac property.
Soldiers from five other countries, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, are taking part in the joint exercise.
The 11-day military exercise, taking place in Thailand's Chon Buri province, covers amphibious assault, humanitarian relief, and evacuation of friendly forces, as well as jungle survival techniques, the report added.
