Tibet:On Monday morning, parts of Tibet were rocked by two earthquakes. The first earthquake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale and the second was of 5.1 magnitude.
The first earthquake, jolted the border region of Zogang County and Markam County at Qamdo Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region, was reported at 5.23 am on Monday. The region received aftershocks but no casualties have been reported in the quake-hit area.
Much of western China is prone to earthquakes. Twin 5.6 and 5.9 magnitude quakes killed at least 95 people in Gansu province last month. A 6.6 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan province killed about 200 people earlier this year.
