PICS: 77 people die in Algeria plane crash; lone soldier survives miraculously

The plane was discovered in pieces on Mount Fortas near the town of Ain Kercha, 50 kilometers (30 miles) southeast of Constantine, main city in eastern Algeria. The senior official of Algerian army said that cargo plane Hercules C-180 was heading to Constantine from the southern Saharan city of Tamanrasset. In the earlier reports, it was said that 103 people travelling in the plane have been killed. The relief and rescue workers reached the spot and started the task.

One soldier was saved in the crash who is badly injured. He has been admitted to a hospital in Algeria. One of the retired Intelligence officer told that the saved person has suffered severe head injuries. Due to unconsciousness, his identity has not been revealed yet.
