Here\'s a way out]]> New Delhi: Most of us know that the final date for filing of income tax returns is July 31, but did you know that even if you miss this date, there is still a way out for you?



A salaried or a self-employed person who is not required to get his tax audit done is normally expected to file his returns by July 31 of the assessment year.



(For the financial year 2012-13, the assessment year would be 2013-14. The I-T return due date for the financial year 2012-13 is July 31, 2013.)



However, if you miss this deadline for some reason, you can still submit what is called a belated return before the end of the assessment year, or before March 31, 2015.



But in case the assessment by the I-T officer begins before you have filed your income tax return, you can file it any time before the assessment gets completed or before March 31, whichever is earlier.



Completion of Assessment refers to the due date on which the order of assessment was passed and not the date on which the order was received by the taxpayer.



Therefore, if you submit your return after the assessment is completed but before the date you receive the notice of demand, it will be considered invalid. Also, if you submit you return after the assessment gets cancelled, your return will be considered valid.



Things to remember:



1. In case of filing belated I-T return, you are liable to pay the tax along with a 1 per cent per month simple interest.



2. If no tax is payable, you don't need to pay interest for filing belated return after due date, but before the assessment year ends.



3. A belated return of loss from Business/Profession and Capital Gains cannot be filed after the normal due date



4. Belated Return filed cannot be revised

For instance, a person going to America for 5 years on a project can opt for a limited premium payment plan. Finding the ‘best insurance policy’ isn’t that difficult. Once you know your requirements and needs, all you need to do is asses the plans available. Throwing light on his college days, Akhilesh revealed that he had flunked in six out of seven subjects in the first semester.

 

“I had failed in six subjects out of seven in the first semester of civil environmental engineering and had to write 15 papers together in the second semester,” he said.

 

“I was at the cycle stand when the results were displayed on the notice board and there was just one subject mentioned next to my registration number. I thought it was the subject in which I had failed but it did not take time to realise that I had passed in one subject. The first thing I did after that was to look out for best tutors,” he continued.

 

But what reflected his resilience was that he got 70 percent marks in the final semester.

 

Akhilesh, who visited the place with his wife Dimple and three kids, was treated to his favorite menu of butter Mysore pak, channa bhathura, vegetable pulao, raitha, finger chips, sauce, pappad, chutney, raja special, rasam, yoghurt and, rice and fruits.

This comes four days after Narendra Modi's lieutenant Amit Shah was given charge of Uttar Pradesh. Mistry’s appointment as chief of Uttar Pradesh unit makes it a Gujarati-versus-Gujarati war between the BJP and Congress.

 

With Mistry’s appointment, the Congress looks all determined to implement all the UPA government’s successful schemes in Uttar Pradesh. His appointment was perhaps based on his credential as he was a driving force in monitoring the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Gujarat. He also led Congress for a historic win in recently-held Karnataka elections. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report on the implementation of MGNREGS earlier this year, referred to Mistry as among the more active members of the Central Employment Guarantee Council (CEGC) under NREGA.

 

Keeping in mind all his previous expertise, the Congress now hopes that he can resurrect the flagship scheme in UP and help the party improve its performance in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

 

The Congress also appointed Naseeb Singh, Rana Goswami, Zuber Khan and Prakash Joshi as secretaries, AICC and assistants in charge of UP.

 

At a time when the BJP should focus more on poll strategy, the infighting within and outside the party seem to have taken centre stage while the Congress leadership is carefully treading the path toward 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

"This was maximum ever water which flowed through the barrage at a given point of time,” said Yamunanagar's Deputy Commissioner, Markand Khete Malish.


 


Fifty-two people, including 15 children, stranded on a tract of land in Haryana's Yamunanagar district due to floods triggered by heavy rains, were rescued.


 


Chhachrauli, Bilaspur and Jagadhri in Yamunanagar district received heavy downpour overnight, a MeT official said on Monday.

A senior investigating cop said, “The woman and her son earlier filed complaints against which turned out to be false. Sandeep told us he was harassed by his wife and son for months. Recently they started abusing him on Facebook as well.”

 

Preliminary investigations revealed Sandeep’s allegations were true.

 

Thana in-charge Naveen Pal Singh said, “We investigated the case and found that whatever Sandeep said in his complaint was true. He was harassed by his wife and son. We have booked them under relevant sections of IPC.”

Ingredients:

 

•         2 cups fusilli pasta

•         50 gm beans

•         2 carrots

•         ½ bunch spinach

•         1 tsp oregano - 1 tsp

•         Pepper

•         Salt

•         ¾ cup Mozzarella Cheese

 

White Sauce:

 

•         4 tbsp maida (all purpose flour)

•         4 tbsp butter

•         3 cups milk

•         Salt

 

 

Recipe:

 

1. Boil water and add the pasta. Cook for 5 minutes.

2. Strain and run through cold water. Keep aside.

3. Chop beans and carrots and cook for a while.

4. Cook the spinach after chopping.

5. Make white sauce by diluting the maida in milk and mix it thoroughly.

6. Melt the butter in a pan.

7. Pour in the diluted maida mixture and stir continuously.

8. Add salt and stir.

9. Add the cooked vegetables, spinach and pasta in a pan.

10. Pour in the white sauce and cook for five minutes.

11. Add salt and pepper.

12. Put it in a baking dish and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.

13. Grill in an oven till the cheese melts down.

 

 

Serve hot!

The Maoist leader, identified as Inderjeet, was injured in a gunbattle with the CoBRA commandos of the paramilitary on June 12 along the Jharkhand-Bihar axis near the Kumudi railway station. 

 

"He is a big catch. He was injured in a gunbattle with our commandos sometime back and since then we were on his trail," Central Reserve Police Force chief Pranay Sahay told media.

 

Bihar DGP Abhayanand confirmed the arrest and said the state police would inform Jharkhand government about the development as Inderjeet was wanted by them. 

 

Senior officials said Inderjeet, a platoon commander and member of the regional 'dalam' operating in Bihar and Jharkhand area, was apprehended by security agencies in a secret operation on the intervening night of June 17 and 18 from Eshwar Dayal hospital in Patna. 

 

They said he was getting himself treated undercover for bullet wounds in the hospital and the agencies moved in on him after getting vital tip-offs. 

 

The Maoist commander was wanted in the infamous incident of planting an IED in the abdomen of CRPF trooper Babulal Patel who was killed and left behind during an encounter in Jharkhand's Latehar early this year. He was also wanted for many other attacks on security forces.

 

Some of his accomplices were earlier apprehended by Jharkhand police last month.

In the report published in Daily Mail, it is said that Daniel Metzgar sued the urologist Thomas Desperito after an operation performed by him left the Delaware truck driver in severe discomfort for months.

 

During the hearing, Metzgar attorney described the frequent discomfort and daily embarrassment he experienced after the procedure. The attorney argued that the flawed surgery has left Metzgar unable to ride motorbike, wearing normal clothes and joining family social events.

 

'I could hardly dance, with an erection poking my partner,' Metzgar told jurors at the start of the trial in the news report. 'It's not something you want to bring out at parties and show to friends.'

 

The doctor's lawyer argued that the victim failed to oblige doctor’s direction and get the implant removed after four months as he complained of an infection and said that erection was not going down for months.

 

The doctors advised him to get the implant removed, which he failed to do so. 

 

 

The jury decided to clear the doctor of negligence charges. 

 

The implant is a mechanical device used to treat people suffering from severe erectile dysfunction.

 

The surgical implant most often used involves an inflatable device; two cylinders are placed in the penile tissue and these are connected to a pump in the scrotum.

 

When a man wants to have sex, he squeezes the pump in the scrotum and the cylinders are filled with fluid kept in a reservoir in the abdomen.

NEET was supposed to be the single entrance exam for Medicine until a Supreme Court verdict ruled that there could be multiple entrances for medical colleges.


The uncertainty over the date has left parents and students stressed as they now do not know whether to apply for other courses or wait until they get a place in a government medical college.


NEET-UG results were declared on June 5. Counselling dates will be announced on several sites including:

The ministry notified interest rate of 8.5% for 2012-13, up from 8.25% the previous financial year. The nominal increase would benefit around five crore provident fund account holders.
 

“The notification will be implemented with immediate effect,” said Anil Swarup, central provident fund commissioner, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). It means that the interest rate would reflect in subscribers’ accounts within a few days.

 

Also, the salaried class would be able to save more in months to come with the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) readying to re-notify a new definition of "compensation" that will include all your allowances, amid intense lobbying against the move by industry bodies.

 

At present, majority of the companies only pay 12 per cent of the basic salary and many of them do away with dearness allowance. This becomes their share of "matching" provident fund and the Employees Pension Scheme contribution.

 

As for employees, the basic salary remains constant, while increments are passed by way of enhanced or new allowances resulting in enhanced tax liability due to the salary hike. As for company, they earn tax credits on salary-related expenses — but the statutory provident fund contribution remains unchanged.

 

EPFO had notified the changes last year. But due to persistent protest from employers, it had to withdraw the notifications. With this decision, the employers believe their take-home salary would come down. The industry is also opposed to this move but EPFO is expected to go ahead with the plan as a panel set up by the labour ministry to vet the proposal has endorsed it.
