A day after CEO Carol Bartz’s ouster from the helm of the company’s affairs, a report has emerged that says web search company Yahoo! might be sold soon.
Quoting sources close to Yahoo, a report by the Telegraph said the sale might take place even before the company appoints a new chief executive to replace Bartz.
It is expected that Microsoft, which tried to buy Yahoo in 2008 for $45 billion, or $31 a share, will make a fresh bid for the company half the size of its earlier offer.
AOL is also a likely candidate to merge with Yahoo!, said the Telegraph report.
Ms Bartz was fired over the phone by Yahoo!'s chairman, Roy Bostock, on Tuesday, ending a troubled 18-month tenure at the company.
