New Delhi: A many as 500 pro-Asaram supporters on Friday gathered outside the Kamla Market police station in central Delhi and asked that the FIR against the self-styled godman be quashed. The minor girl who accused Asaram Bapu of sexually assaulting her had filed an FIR at the Kamla market police station.
According to reports, supporters of the self-proclaimed spiritual leader supporters gathered at the police station around 10 am. and raised slogans against the police and the media, accusing them of trying to dent the image of the spiritual leader.
It is also learnt that Asaram’s supporters marched towards Jantar Mantar after creating ruckus outside Kamla Market police station.
The victim, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district, visited Asaram Bapu along with her family. Police said Asaram Bapu took the girl to a separate room on the pretext of treating her illness and sexually assaulted her.
Meanwhile, Asaram Bapu-run Chhindwara Gurukul on Thursday alleged that the girl (who was sexually assaulted) was handed over to her parents because she was ‘abnormal’. Asaram Bapu has denied the allegations.
Preliminary police investigation has revealed that Asaram and the minor girl who has accused him of sexually assaulting her were both present on the date of the crime in the ashram, say sources. The caretaker as well as the owner of the farmhouse said that Asaram was present at the place on August 15.
