Week after week, Bollywood filmmakers bombard us with no-brainer films from their arsenal. A film like 2 States, where all the characters are sane, there is a story, and acting is also brilliant, is a sigh of relief for all the movie buffs who still vouch for ‘common sense’ in cinema.
In middle of the film, Krrish (Arjun Kapoor) tells Ananya (Alia Bhatt) that hero of his story will be the story. This sums up 2 States. The film is a love story powered by genuine performances, presented in a heartwarming manner.
Krrish doesn’t fly in the air, he doesn’t kill 100 goons in a punch to protect his girl friend, neither he throws heavy dialogues at the villain (actually there is no villain in 2 States). But still you will fall in love with his innocence and unconditional love for Ananya.
The second half of 2 States is completely focused on North Indian and South India stereotypes. One is bound to smile every ten minutes on an average. Most of the film is engrossing, barring a few dragged scenes post-interval.
How is the chemistry between Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor?
Alia and Arjun might claim that they are not dating each other in real life, but after seeing their chemistry in the film, you might disagree with the alleged couple.
If you loved Arjun Kapoor in Ishaqzaade and Gunday, his performance in 2 States will blow you off. His transformation into a sweet innocent boy from a harsh goon deserves thumbs up.
Alia Bhatt is turning into the next big star of the industry. Her performance in 2 States is a proof that she is leading the battle of contemporary actresses.
How is the film different from Chetan Bhagat’s novel?
Even if you have read the novel, director Abhishek Varman has packed many surprised for you. It will be a great watch for rest of the people who don’t know anything about the story. Amrita Singh as the mother and Ronit Roy as the father are exceptional. They are the true show-stealers, who are bound to entertain.
Kudos to director Abhishek Varman for not going over the top with ‘North Indian’ and ‘South Indian’ stereotypes.
Big Questions- Should I watch 2 States?
2 States is a complete family entertainer which has everything positive about it. There is no over the top drama or heavy action scene. For everyone who has read the novel, keep your expectations in check. WATCH IT.
