Almost all Chetan Bhagat’s novels have proudly made it to the silver screen, but his popular work –‘2 States’ has been in the doldrums for a long time. Since, the mystery over the leading man kept the makers on tenterhooks. With Imran Khan opting out of the film, the situation just deepened for the producers. But, now it seems sorted as newbie Arjun Kapoor has come to the rescue of Karan Johar.
Arjun (of Ishaqzaade fame) has been roped in to play the Punjabi boy in KJo’s version of ‘2 States’.
Confirming the same, producer Sajid Nadiadwala said to a daily, “There has also been tremendous curiosity over the casting. The suspense is over. Karan and I are co- producing 2 States and Arjun Kapoor is our hero.”
And, with Arjun just one film old in the industry, the makers still have faith in his acting prowess. Karan said, “Arjun is wonderful and a supremely talented addition to the young bracket of actors in the movie industry. Both Sajid and I have implicit faith in his portrayal of our protagonist.”
The film will be directed by debutant director Abhishek Varman, who worked with K Jo on ‘My Name is Khan’ and is also the creative director on ‘Student of The Year.’ Prducer Sajid added, “I bought the rights of 2 States because I loved the book. Abhishek (Varman) has done a fantastic job of the adaptation. The love story in this book is very beautiful.”
