Director Rupesh Paul’s ‘Saint Dracula 3D’ has been nominated in the Best Feature Film category of the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Being the first ever stereoscopic 3D movie in Dracula series, the movie will be contesting with the likes of ‘Skyfall’, ‘The Hobbit’, ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ and ‘Paranormal Activity 4’. This recognition comes as an icing on cake as the film’s music and background score by Sreevalsan J Menon have already made into the nomination list.
The nomination comes as a relief to Indian film industry as country’s official entry ‘Barfi’ didn’t make to the final list. ‘Saint Dracula 3D’ is making India proud along with another movie ‘Akashathinte Niram’ ( Colour of the Sky) by Malayalam film director Dr. Biju, which got nominated in the Best Film category. India has got two nominations in the animation category, ‘Delhi Safari’ and ‘Hey Krishna’.
‘Saint Dracula 3D’ is a different take at the age old tale of Dracula. The movie presents Dracula in a completely new avatar as he reincarnates as an ardent lover rather than the archetypal vampire. Sohan Roy, the director of the Hollywood film ‘Dam 999’ is the project designer. The film has extensively been shot in the exotic locales of Liverpool and Wales in UK. The movie was premiered in the American Film Market in California on November 2, 2011. It has also been premiered in the Cannes Film Festival 2011.
The young director Rupesh Paul, who hails from Kerala has been making waves with the announcement of his new project ‘Kamasutra 3D’, once again comes to lime light with this extra ordinary achievement of making a mark at the Oscars. Rupesh has forayed in to film making with 2008 Malayalm Film’ My Mother’s Laptop’.
