Kill Dil Movie Review: Ranveer Singh is the saving grace in this otherwise boring film
We could not sit through Shaad Ali’s last film Jhoom Barabar Jhoom some seven years ago. And the man is back with his latest film Kill Dil only to test our patience again. Kill Dil is the best example of how to waste the best talent available in the industry. Ranveer Singh (Blockbuster Singh), Parineeti Chopra (Queen of super hits), Govinda (One of the best actors in the industry) together couldn't save this sketchy film.
The biggest problem of Kill Dil is that it doesn't have any surprise element. A goon adopts two brothers who too grow up to be goons under his guidance. One of them falls in love with a girl, and now wants to change his profession, but the 'baap of all goons' doesn't agree. Wow, that’s new! Haven’t we already seen all that a million times in Bollywood?
How is the story?
We can’t believe Shaad Ali took seven years to make this film. There isn’t a single twist in the film where you feel surprised or stunned. You can predict the entire plot within first 15 minutes.
Govinda adopts two street kids (Ranveer Singg and Ali Zafar), they grow up to become the smartest shooters of the town. Now, Ranveer Singh falls in love with Parineeti Chopra, who is an educated rich girl. He hides his profession from her, starts working in a life insurance company. Govinda doesn’t like this turnaround and wants to bring him back to the world of crime.
How is the acting? Ranveer Singh is the saving grace of the film, still way below his best. Govinda too looked best in his villainous avatar. But we are sure that Govinda could have selected a better film for his comeback. Parineeti and Ali Zafar have been completely wasted.
How are the dialogues?
Dialouges of the film reminds of 90s cinema, but for some reasons Shaad Ali finished the quota of all his good dialogues in first half of the film. There are hardly any dialogues in the second half which grab your attention.
How is the music?
Background music is strong and goes well with the theme of the film. Songs are good to listen if not
Big Questions-Should I watch Kill Dill?
The only saving grace of the film is Ranveer Singh's performance. But will you pay Rs. 250 to watch him for 2 hours in an otherwise boring film? We rest our case.
