    Movie: Mickey Virus

    Director: Saurabh Varma

Cast: Manish Paul, Elli Avram, Manish Choudhary, Varun Badola, Puja Gupta

    Rating: *1/2

Shake your head first, Mickey Virus is way different from what you carved out from its below-average comic trailer. It’s a suspense thriller with a twist of comedy in the first 20 minutes. After watching the film, you might want to ask debutant director Saurabh Varma that why the film was promoted as a comic thriller when there is no comedy for almost 95 minutes in a 135 minutes long film.

The first half of the film is hard to decode as the director seems to have lost the track in order to create a balance between comedy and thrill. However, in the second half comedy takes a back seat and you start enjoying the film. But some glaring errors in the story cost this film much more than expected.

The film starts with a foreigner running in Delhi’s narrow lanes. A man kills him in a fraction of a second by injecting a chemical in his body. Police inspector ACP Siddhanth (Chaudhari), who believed that a hacker’s group is planning a big conspiracy, hires Mickey to bust the gang. However, lazy Mickey couldn’t cope up with the work module of police.

In between, he falls in love with a girl Kamayani (Elli) who is also involved in the conspiracy. Twist in the story comes when the lady gets murdered and charges of murder come on Mickey.

There are some inane distractions like regular love songs, over the top background score. Manish Paul’s acting is highlight of the film. If we ignore a few scenes, he has looked apt in his Delhiwalla character. However, you might find his acting similar to Ayushmann Khurrana initially. He looks promising.

Elli Avaram, who is still locked in Bigg Boss house, acts well, looks beautiful. But she will have to work hard lest she should become a one-time wonder.
