Success of Bhoothnath in 2008 opened doors for directors and producers to experiment with the unexplored paranormal comedy genre in Bollywood. Satish Kaushik’s paranormal comedy film Gang of Ghosts, which is releasing this Friday, falls in the same category. The film has at least 20 ghosts, but they don’t scare you, they make you laugh.
The concept of GOG is completely different from what we expect from Kaushik.
Does Gang of Ghosts scare us?
We have been told since our childhood that Ghosts are evil. They have scary face and they kill people. But what if Ghosts have a heart, have emotions and they also get hurt like us. Sounds cool. No! GOG explores the other side of Ghosts.
The concept might sound funny on papers, but on screen GOG doesn’t impress much. Satish Kaushik’s film is slow and full of loopholes. It entertains you in parts, but mostly it is boring. The actors have done a decent job, but even they have failed to save this film.
What is story?
The story of the film is about a haunted house, where a property dealer wants to build a mall. The film is about the ghosts who live there and what they do to save the house.
How is the acting?
The Star cast of Gang of Ghosts is long. It includes Sharman Joshi, Parambrata Chatterjee, Mahi Gill, Anupam Kher, Meera Chopra, Rajesh Khattar, Saurabh Shukla, Rajpal Yadav, Yashpal Sharma, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey. All actors in the film are talented, but even their talent couldn’t save the film.
Meera Chopra and Mahi Gill are there just for the glamour.
How is the music?
Just like the story, the film’s music also disappoints you. In fact, it is funny.
Big Question-Should I watch Gang of Ghosts?
Only if you have nothing to do this weekend, and you are adamant on watching a film at the theater. We don’t recommend Gang of Ghosts.
