MSG Review: From aerial bike rides to curing AIDS, Pitaji is so bad that he is actually good!
After much controversies and Censor Board ban, the film managed to make its way to the cinema halls but left us wandering as to what exactly was there to ban? Well, the answer might probably be the exclusive branding of Dera Sachha Sauda. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh (GRRS), who garnered much attention and curiosity among the people with his bike rides and dangerous stunts, has undoubtedly established himself as the funniest unbeatable action hero of all times!
What’s the story?
Our very own Sant Gurmeet is basically the alpha male who is a chick magnet, sports superstar, painter, healer, ghost-rider and of course, the love charger! GRRS is playing himself in the film where he is a crusader against prostitution, terrorism, female foeticide, corruption and the list just goes on. He has a large fan following with people actually worshipping him as a god. Now a local politician who wants to get him out of the way hires an assassin to kill him and thus begins the battle of the villains and the self-styled godman.
The direction is so bad that it is actually a must watch for the audience who will enjoy making fun of the bizzare aerial action stunts done by the famous GRRS. The film looks tacky enough to prove that it is the job of someone doing blind self promotion. The film is all about super slow motion which serves absolutely no purpose other than giving Baba ji’s disciples one more chance to whistle. The grueling 197 minutes of the film will leave you spellbound by its sheer loudness and scenes that make absolutely no sense.
The actor either acts good or bad. It is a rare possibility if an actor makes you think weather the concept of acting exists at all. GRRS who is lovingly called Pita ji by his followers in the film has surpassed all you beliefs in god and godmen. If you are not his fan in real life, his reel life will definitely turn you into one of his followers, just by the way he heals the unhealable, rehabilitates drug and alcohol addicts, rescues prostitutes and gets them married and so on. Pita ji’s attempt on acting is so bad that it is actually a treat to watch!
The album consists of 7 songs all written and sung by Baba Ram Rahim himself. Now imagine the plight. The highlight of the movie is a sequence on a live concert which will leave you in splits.
To watch or not?
Love him or hate him but you just can’t ignore him. Sant Gurmeet’s antics in the film are so bad that they are actually impossible to miss. Watch it only if you think you can survive it. Not in a good way, but the film offers a good dosage of laughter all throughout.
Directed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Jeetu Arora, MSG, formerly known as Messenger of God, now retitled as The Messenger, has finally released in the theaters today.
