Believe it! Phones with 256GB and 2TB expandable memory are a reality now
The International Consumer Electronics Show has been a major attraction for gadget makers as well as gadget lovers. The show which takes place in the 2nd week of January every year, is known to set trends for the whole year and give a preview of tech things that are making way to the real life.
This year we saw the new phones with expandable memory beyond 128GB. In the year, 2014 phones with 128GB were launched in which the user can use an expandable sdcard to increase the memory of the handset. During the second part of last year, we saw Meizu MX3 (this one in 2013 end), LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Desire 816, Oppo Find 7. Microsoft Lumia 535, Sony Xperia Z2 and many others launched with 128GB of expandable storage.
This year, however, things are going to change for better. Saygus and LG has launched handsets with higher memory, making us look forward to storage in Tetra Bytes rather than Giga Bytes.
This year LG launched its G Flex2 curved Smartphone packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a 2TB of expandable storage. Another handset maker Saygus launched its waterproof V2, which sports 256GB of expandable storage (well, there’s a trick!).
Saygus, an Utah-based company has launched its new Saygus V2 (VSquared) with a 5 inch display screen of full HD quality protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen. (Other phones with this screen protector are Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Alpha).
This new phone has a waterproof body and runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on board. The handset is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. To expand the internal memory, the company uses a simple trick, packing two slots instead of one.
So this phone actually packs 2 128GB slots for micro SDcard making it 256GB of expandable storage in total.
The other phone that promises huge expandable memory is the new G Flex2 from LG. This is a curved phone using a P-oled type screen and uses 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. The phone allows one to expand the phone memory by up to 2TB (TetraByte) via a micro SDcard.
This indeed also sets a new benchmark for other handset manufacturers and memory chip makers.
