Samsung seems to have codenamed its long-awaited SM-Z130H budget Tizen Smartphone as ‘Kiran’, which in Hindi essentially means the ray (looks like Samsung is quite inspired by Nokia's 'Asha' name). SamMobile claims that it has got information of this anticipated phone’s interface which includes lock screen themes, default wallpaper and icons, and reveals the codename as well as other details of the phone. The prolific leakster has got its hand on a system dump of the Tizen 2.3 OS running on this phone.
We know that the Kiran would be Samsung’s entry level offering, which could be its ray of hope to make its space in the low-end segment which currently is ruled by local players in markets like India and China. The Hindi codename too hints that the phone is meant mainly to cater to markets like India, which is also supported by the report that claims that the Samsung SM-Z130H Kiran phone will be initially launched in India only. This would also help the company to take on Google's Android One budget Smartphone range that has got a mixed bag of reviews in India.
In terms of specifications, the reported specifications are in line with previously leaked specifications. Samsung SM-Z130H is likely to come with a WVGA (480x800) TFT LCD display, be powered by a 1.2GHz Spreadtrum SC7727S dual-core processor coupled with Mali-400 GPU and 512MB of RAM, and sport 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash paired with a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Kiran will be a dual-SIM smartphone with connectivity options including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (802.11n), FM radio, and GPS/ A-GPS. The report also suggests that the phone will come with only accelerometer sensor.
In addition to this, it seems that Samsung is trying to bring a similar interface experience across OSes as it has ported some special features as well as icons, wallpapers and other customizations of its Android specific TouchWiz UI to the Tizen OS. The leaked photos show similarity between its Tizen OS’ interface and TouchWiz interface on Android, which include the use of Private Mode and Ultra Power Saving Mode on Tizen OS. The Tizen smartphone is also said to come pre-loaded with social networking app like Facebook, Twitter, as well as bring some Google services and apps.
