Xiaomi planning the ultimate Android One competitor with a new INR 4 000 smartphone
Xiaomi is not going to leave any stone unearthed when it comes to the Smartphone market. The company after making huge success selling INR 5,999 RedMi 1S in India and readying to bring the RedMi Note very soon is planning another cheap player with decent specifications.
The company is now planning a new Smartphone at a price of USD65 only. That is INR 4,000 approximately when converted at an exchange rate of USD 1 = INR 61.65.
The new smartphone according to leaked information from MyDrivers (via Gizchina) will be based on a new Leadcore processor. Leadcore is a new Chinese processor chip maker with which Xiaomi has entered into a partnership to power its low-cost affordable phones.
The new chip on the which the new Xiaomi smartphone will be based is on the LC1860 built around the 28nm Cortex A7 architecture expected to be clocked at a speed of 2 GHz. This processor will be coupled with the Mali T628 graphics processor. The processor support 1280 x 720 pixels display resolution on the new phone, though it is capable of supporting 2K display resolution.
The processor is capable of supporting 1080p video capture at the speed of 60fps and will support 4G LTE and 3G network support on GSM type network.
Other expected specs of the new phone
The new phone is expected to run on a 1GB RAM which is not bad at all considering the price at which it is placed. The phone according to the leaked spec sheet will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
With the launch of Nokia X, announcement of Moto E and other cheap phones under INR 10K in the market the battle to go cheap in the smartphone market started. The competition was fuelled by the launch of cheap Mozilla firefox and Android KitKat powered phones from local domestic competitors in India and later Android One from Google also attempted to look at this market of budget Smartphones.
The new Xiaomi phone will be another turning point in the chapter of cheap phones. We expect the handset to be launched in India as well, where Xiaomi has been selling RedMi 1S crazily. This handset if launched in India will compete with the budget Android One from Google.
