Worshipping God by following the set rituals is an integral part of devotion. Out of a number of customary rituals, offering flowers to the deities is an important one. There are some rules which should be followed while offering flowers to God.
-Insect bitten or stale should not be used, always use fresh flowers
-Do not offer flowers which have fallen down from the bushes/trees.
-Do not offer flowers which are still in the form of bud or about to blossom.
-Dried, drooped wilted and soiled flowers should not be used.
-Flowers should not be stored in the clothes worn by you. Better collect and store fresh flowers in a small basket.
-Never use left hand to offer flowers to god.
-Never sprinkle water with Kusha (a kind of dried grass) over the idols of Gods and Goddesses.
