45 kms away from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, there is a place known as Manikarn. It is said, that once, goddess Parvati’s earring had fallen here and had got lost in water.

Everybody searched for it a lot, but the earring was not found. Finally, it was found that the earring had reached Pataal lok (hell) to Sheshnaag (King of snakes).

When Sheshnaag came to know about it, it made a loud hisss from the pataal lok and the earth’s surface broke and hot water started coming out. With hot water, goddess Parvati’s earring also came out.

Even today, Manikarn has hot water coming out from various places.
