Congress suspends NSUI Mumbai unit president for dancing naked at party function
Mumbai: Congress on Monday suspended the president of its youth wing National Students Union of India for performing a naked dance act at party function in Mumbai. Suraj Singh Thakur, the president of Mumbai unit, had been re-elected as NSUI president in December 2012. The incident, reportedly, took place at a meet in suburb of Kandivili on April 14. Thakar is said to be in an inebriated state at that time, thus explaining his act. Two of his associates have also been sacked for creating disorder at the same function after consuming liqour.
The humiliating incident comes amid the surfacing of allegations of corruption against two union ministers for which the Opposition parties led by Bharatiya Janata Party are demanding the resignation of even the PM, besides PK Bansal and Ashwani Kumar.
Thakur had first gained prominence after he led vociferous protests against the book of Rajiv Gandhi’s alleged killer A.G. Perarivalan in May 2011. He had also organised a massive demonstration against senior BJP leader LK Advani later that year in November.
