Prostitution centres thriving in posh Bhopal localities
Bhopal: Flesh trade rackets are flourishing in Bhopal's upscale areas like 10 Number Market, New Market, MP Nagar, Idgah Hills, Koh-e-Fiza. Beauty and massage parlours are frequently used for running the dubious activities.
The clout of the owners of these centres prevents cops from entering these premises, said said a senior police officer, who did not want to be named.
Young women from different metro cities are brought to the city on demand and forced to work as sex workers in guise of a providing parlour services, he said.
Two days ago, the police unearthed one such flesh trade racket being operated from a beauty parlour in 10 Number Market. The police believe that it was not an isolated case, wherein a parlour was only a front for running illegal activities.
This is the second time when a sex racket was unearthed in the building in the past few years.
Seizure of a dairy in the raid with names of some 40 persons, including influential people as customers, has once again brought in focus dubious activities being run from massage parlours in the city, the police said.
Police raids in the past point out that unscrupulous elements resort to offer massage service to throw law enforcing agencies of their tail. Those indulging in sleazy activities do not have to go out for customers and the entire fiasco is run from within the parlour, the officer said.
Dozen sex rackets busted in 4 years
In January this year, the police busted rackets of flesh trade and selling of minor girls in Piplani area of BHEL township. The flesh trade was being run through a website.
In September 2012, a sex racket was busted in Koh-e-Fiza area in which around 10 persons, including women and their alleged customers, were caught from a house.
A sex racket was unearthed in MP Nagar in 2011 running in guise of a parlour. Another beauty parlour was raided in Arera Colony in 2010.
Police don't dare to conduct raid in these areas because of influential customers.
