New Delhi: When Narendra Modi addressed FICCI Women’s Wing in the national capital, everyone expected him to take ‘Modi vs Rahul' row a little further. Modi refused to comment directly on Rahul Gandhi. But he took an indirect jibe at Rahul when he mentioned Kalavati Bandurkar episode. He used this opportunity to jibe at Media for sniffing at everything he says or does.
"Jasuben Ka Pizza is very popular and people prefer it over any other pizza" Modi said while highlighting women strength and entrepreneurial skills.
“Now my friends from the Media will go to Ahmedabad to know the whereabouts of Jasuben, Just in case it turns out to be a Kalavati type case," he said which made the crowd burst into laughter.
He used this opportunity to bring home the point that he is serious about whatever he says and not like Rahul Gandhi who allegedly did not care about the welfare of Dalit woman Kalavati.
Kalavati Parshuram Bandurkar, Dalit widow and mother of nine, shot to fame when Rahul Gandhi mentioned her in Parliament in connection with farmers suicide in Vidarbha. When media followed this story it was revealed that no financial assistance was extended to Kalawati whose son-in-law and daughter too committed suicide later on. Opposition parties slammed Rahul for paying only a lip service to the cause and doing nothing for the betterment of the masses.
But Modi knew what he was talking. "Jasuben passed away five years in Pune," Modi said telling everyone that he has the foresight to think of future course of action--which reflects upon his political astuteness.
Indirectly he conveyed to the media that he is really careful of the media tactics and is not going to fall into any kind of trap.
