New Delhi: Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder singh, is considered to be one of the most influential kings of his time and was known for his lavish life style.
He is considered to be the first Indian or may be even Asian to have an airplane, for which the Patiala Aviation Club was founded.
He was also an avid and early motorcar enthusiast. Legend has it that he would travel in a motorcade of 20 Rolls Royces.

Reacting to the refusal, the old Maharaja put some of his old Rolls Royce cars to haul garbage dung and filth in Patiala city to the chagrin of the all-powerful Rolls Royce-loving Viceroy and the British ruling establishment who quickly prevailed upon the Rolls Royce Company to comply with the old Maharaja’s wishes.
