Kharkhoda (Sonipat): More and more questions are being raised over the ‘heroism’ of virile Rohtak sisters. For one more victim of their ‘gutsiness’ has come to the fore. Sumit and his family hailing from Sisana village in Sonipat district shared their personal experiences with media yesterday.
Sumit’s father Ramphool tells, “Around six months ago the same sisters had made an allegation of molestation against my son, even though he was not even present in the bus at the time the alleged incident took place. The case was probed by the Rohtak police. Being a respected family in the village, we were severely hurt because of this, to the extent that we made him quit the college. We had to pay Rs 20,000 to the sisters to get rid of them.”
Sumit recounts, “After securing 64 per cent marks in grade 12 at one of the schools of the village, I took admissions into Rohtak’s Jat College for an undergraduate programme in Arts. One day I came to home from college early due to a work.
However, I was completely bowled over when the very next day I got to know that the sisters had lodged a complaint of molestation against me with the police. Just because they were girls, nobody was ready to listen to our side of the story. In the end we were compelled to shell out Rs 20,000 and thus settle the issue.”
Sumit and his father say they are ready to make a statement in the court in this regard. On the other hand, the sisters’ father Rajesh alleges that some people are pulling out all the stops to divert the people’s attention from the real issue of his daughters’ alleged molestation and harassment. An attempt is being made to exert pressure on his family to withdraw the case.
“Sumit had apologized for molesting my daughters at that time and now he is cooking up a story to malign us. He will be given a befitting reply in the court,” affirms Rajesh.
