New Delhi: In yet another embarrassment for the scam-hit UPA government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's advisor is mire in controversy over alleged irregular allotment of housing sites to his kin.
According to a report published in an English daily, a cooperative society of employees of BEML allegedly made two allotments of Bangalore plots to a niece and a friend of PM's advisor TKA Nair.
The plots were allotted in December 2008 to Nair’s niece A Preethy Prabha and family friend Umadevi Nambiar.
The allotments were made at throwaway prices, at a time when Prime Minister's Office (PMO) was probing a complaint against BEML, reports said.
However, the plots were returned by Nair's niece after whistle-blower complained to the PMO.
Meanwhile, Nair denied the reports saying that no irregularity or illegality was involved in it.
