Born in Amritsar on June 9, 1948, Bedi has made an immense contribution towards empowerment of women. Although she gives all the credit for her success to her parents, yet we cannot ignore the fact that it is by virtue of her hard work and dedication she has reached where she is today.

    It was on the Tennis court Kiran - who has now joined BJP - met her husband Brij Bedi for the first time; he was a member of the same club in Amritsar. He was also a university tennis player and a textile engineer by profession. Mr. Bedi is well known in Amritsar for his work towards education of children of drug addicts.

    Their daughter Saina Bedi is also involved in community service and is a journalist by profession. She along with her husband Ruzbeh N Bharucha is involved in producing short films and documentaries. In 2003, Saina’s firm Pavitrata Creations Pvt Ltd telecast a serial Galti Kiski on Doordarshan, based on her mother’s book that goes by the same name.

    Saina’s husband is an author of five books to date and his latest book and film Yamuna Gently Weeps, pertaining to demolition of Yamuna Pushta Slums in Delhi has been internationally acclaimed.
