Jaipur: A 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself as she was reportedly being harassed by her in-laws, who were demanding Rs 10 lakh and a luxury car, under the Shyam Nagar Police station.
Indu Yadav, a student of MNIT College MSc II Semester stayed at 88 Vrinda Van Vihar Colony in Shyam Nagar, police said.
A case of dowry death and harassment for dowry has been registered against husband Sudhir Yadav, father-in-law Jutha Ram, mother-in-law Santhosh Yadav and sister-in-law Pinki.
Anil Rao, ACP Sodala, said that the husband was outside the home while Santosh and Jutha Ram were in a separate room and Pinky was studying in another room, when Indu committed suicide at around 9 pm on Thursday.
He added a suicide note has been recovered from the spot in which Indu has mentioned both her in-laws and parents are good persons and she is committing suicide on her own wish.
However, Abhay Yadav, father of Indu, said that she got married to Sudhir Yadav on February 8 in Vrinda Van Vihar Colony in Jaipur and not even before a year of marriage, she was murdered by her in-laws for dowry.
He informed that her in-laws and husband often used to thrash her. “On January 25, they demanded Rs 1 lakh, but I could arrange Rs 10,000, victim’s father said, adding that Sudhir was a divorcee and later he got married to Indu.
When he got selected as engineer, he started demanding Rs 10 lakh and a luxury car.
