Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday urged the elected public representatives and NGOs to play an active role to curb the illegal practice of female foeticide.
In a meeting here, Gehlot reviewed the efforts being made under the government's schemes to check female foeticide, an official said.
Gehlot while emphasising upon special campaigns across the state, directed officials to prepare an action plan for this purpose with support of public representatives of Panchayat levels and local bodies and NGOs.
Aamir Khan in his debut TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, aired on Sunday 6th May, had highlighted the story of a sting operation done by two journalists to expose increasing female foeticide cases.
Aamir in his show had said that he would appeal to the Rajasthan Chief Minister to get the cases against the doctors tried in a fast track court. He also appealed to viewers to support his campaign in national interest.
