21 cannon salutes marks Krishna Janmashtami at Nathdwara

On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Srinathji temple here was high on festival fever. From Monday evening till midnight, the place witnessed huge crowed of devotees. At Risala Chowk (crossing), the occasion which celebrates the birth of lord Krishna, witnessed 21 salutes by cannons.

    Nathdwara: On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Srinathji temple here was high on festival fever. From Monday evening till midnight, the place witnessed huge crowed of devotees. At Risala Chowk (crossing), the occasion which celebrates the birth of lord Krishna, witnessed 21 salutes by cannons.
    According to devotees this is the 343rd time cannons were used to salute the Krishna’s birth. This tradition is going on since Srinathji temple established on 22 February, 1672.
    It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shrinathji, another form of god Krishna, 48 kilometres north-east of Udaipur.
    Entire night devotees were singing songs like ‘Hathi ghoda palki jai kanhaiya lal ki’.
