New Delhi: In the coming 50 years, Mars will be the only extraterrestrial heavenly body after Moon that human beings may explore.
Energia President Vitaly Lopota opines: "Mars is the common goal of any scenarios of the solar system exploration in the next 50 years."
Energia is a Russian aerospace company that is a major producer of spacecraft, launch vehicles, rocket stages, and missiles.
Lopota thinks it would be almost impossible for us to go beyond our solar system in the foreseeable future, probably due to our limited technologies.
He also added that it would be senseless to fly to Venus, because its environment is too unfavorable for human beings.
"The only choice is Mars, which is rather good," he said.
Mars is very similar to our Earth being the nearest and the most Earth-like planet.
