Ola Cab Driver Molests 23-year-old Belgian Woman in Delhi, Detained
In yet another controversy surrounding app-based cab service, a Belgian woman has alleged that she was molested by a Ola cab driver in south-east Delhi's C R Park area on Saturday night.
A case was registered in the C.R.Park police station in South Delhi after the woman approached the police. In her complaint, the woman said she had booked the Ola cab from Gurgaon and alleged that during the journey the cab driver kissed her.
She left the cab near C R Park area and informed the police about the incident at around 10 PM.
Acting on the complaint, the police detained the driver who has been identified as Raj Singh.
"We have detained the driver, Raj Singh, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan after the complaint," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.
According to police, the driver asked the girl to come on the front seat saying that the GPS system of the cab was not working. She then came to the front seat to show her destination in Delhi after which the driver kissed her.
The woman alleged that the driver deleted all the call records from her phone and threatened her with dire consequences. He told her he would kill her if she complained to the police.
According to police, it is yet to be ascertained whether the woman is a tourist or has been staying in the country for some time.
Meanwhile, the cab service provider has issued a statement stating that the driver has been terminated with 'immediate effect'.
The statement further stated that Ola has 'zero tolerance' to such behaviour from drivers and it would share all required information with the authorities to help resolve the matter at the earliest.
