Among her peers, Durga is known to be an introvert who cares deeply about her responsibilities.
During her stay of 11 months in Gautam Budh Nagar, Durga became interested in the illegal mining on the banks of the Yamuna and Hindon rivers. She even formed a special flying squad to keep a check on these illegal activities. But by then reportedly a lot of money had been made by these mining activities.

Trying to fire-fight this situation, UP government has said that Durga Shakti Nagpal in her stint as SDM had tried to fan communal tension by demolishing the wall of a mosque.

However, the association has raised the issue since Durga is only 11 months old in the profession and still on probation she should not be suspended.
Meanwhile other officers are saying that the felling of a wall of a mosque which is under construction would have been unlikely to cause communal tension and not grounds enough for suspension. They added that no IAS officer has been suspended for the communal tension and clashes witnessed in Mathura, Muzzafarnagar, Faizabad etc. Adding that Durga’s suspension seems politically motivated.
