Lahore: After 14 years of being out of power, Nawaz Sharif is a man in hurry. Opinion polls predict Nawaz Sharif is poised to win the general elections in Pakistan. This is very crucial campaigning time just before the elections. But showing a rare gesture in the politics of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has cancelled elections campaign for today as a show of solidarity with Imran Khan, who suffered serious head injuries and was hospitalized on Tuesday after a stage collapsed in Lahore.

During a public meeting Sharif announced his decision and informed that all the party leaders of his party have cancelled rallies on Wednesday to show their sympathy for Imran Khan.

Nawaz Sharif said that he was shocked to learn about Imran Khan’s incident. He prayed for his early recovery. He said he wants Imran Khan rejoin the election campaign.

According to opinion polls, Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is expected to win the May 11 general election after capitalising on the failures of the outgoing Pakistan People's Party (PPP), a left-leaning party.
