New Delhi: The National Geographic Channel is all set to air a film depicting the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden, two days before the US Presidential Elections. The film, 'SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden', has been produced and distributed by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
The film shot in India and New Mexico recounts the hunting and killing of one of the most wanted men by US.
The film has received mixed reviews, terming it as a mastermind campaign move by Barack Obama. Harvey Weinstein is known to be a staunch Obama supporter
Director John Stockwell (Blue Crush), with an uninspired script by Kendall Lampkin, relies on generic action music, ticking clock flourishes and recruitment-ad pathos to pump up emotion, quoted dallasnews.com
The film premiered in Washington in a small screening attended by a two dozen people. Weinstein planned the premier to be a glittering affair, was forced to restrict the gala event to a small gathering post Sandy devastation. The next screening of the film is scheduled in New York before it goes on air on National Geographic Channel, two days ahead of elections.
The film came under criticism after it was alleged that film content was changed to show more footage of President Obama.
The film will be aired on National Geographic Channel on November 4, 2000 EST (1830 IST).
